Make an appointment to re-register a birth

To add the name of the natural father or after marriage of the natural parents, the relevant GRO form must be completed, signed & brought to the appointment. Forms can be downloaded from this link
Printing facilities are available at local libraries
If customer wants to:

remove the name of the father from the register
re-register after a change of gender

they need to contact General Register Office at this link
We don’t deal with this in Barnsley.

How many children are being re-registered? You can book an appointment to re-register up to 4 children.
If the customer wants to re-register 5 children on more, transfer to 6655/5543.
If fail to transfer: Sorry, Registrars are unavailable at the moment, would you like them to phone you back?
If yes, email RegistrationServices@barnsley.gov.uk with customer details and details of the enquiry.
